Covid-19 is now a reality. This unprecedented pandemic has created a throwback feeling in America. It appears that families are returning to a time when things were simple and neighbors knew each other.
The idea that Covid-19 has strengthened the family unit is proven out with the surge of fiberglass pool sales. “I’ve been in this industry for 35 years and I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Thomas Epple, chief executive of Only Alpha Pool Products in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Thomas is not the only person to express this amazement.

“I’m looking to bring on a second shift and more pool installers to keep up with demand” states Chris Owens, the owner of LoneStar Fiberglass Pools. Lonestar Fiberglass is the largest fiberglass pool manufacturer in Texas and they are seeing record sales. Their most popular model has been the Cabo 16’x33’, which is a great medium size pool that can fit just about any backyard. “As quick as we can make The Cabo we are selling them and that is amazing” Chris says about the growth in the market.

About 45% of members of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, the main U.S. industry trade group, forecast revenues would rise 10% or more this year. (reuters.com)

“We’re hearing from members that have contracts booked out to late 2021 and even into early 2022,” said the alliance’s president Sabeena Hickman. (reuters.com)
